oil cooler pipes ,, i,ve got the same dilema on ,EMILY, wether to run a cooler or not at the moment i just have the pipes ,looped, back so that i can run it ,

Always run a cooler on an auto box, seperate from the radiator if you can. This is just in case in the event of an integral with radiator type breaks you don't end up with cooling water in the gearbox or trans fluid in the cooling system. Running a cooler gives you more fluid volume and extends the life of your box.

I've got an oil cooler on my Borg Warner auto box. I was advised it was essential for the life of the box.

I had a BW65 in the Mini when it was on the road for 5 years (And used to take it up the track as often as I could) and I just looped mine and never had a problem. There is little pressure so some fuel pipe with jubilee clips would do or get someone to make a new pipe using the old ends.

BMW 3 series trans oil coolers are very compact and there are plenty about.

My oil cooler's mounted in front of the radiator, at the top of the grille shell in my truck. I was told it'd be much better mounted at the bottom because the Rover circulation pump isn't designed for long hose runs, but I didn't have the room to mount the cooler elsewhere. Most I've seen have been mounted low down, in line with the engine take off.

there is little pressure as standard but I recon that as long as the rad is about level with the box longer pipes will not make a diffence, (they have to run passed the engine to get to the front so going the same amount to the rears not going to hurt)
