Brake balance valve Q..............

Hi All
  Did I read somewhere on here (cant find it)....That an adjustable compensator valve has to have a means of stopping it going out of adjustment ie a clamp on the adjustable part ,for the MSVA?( Makes sense,even tho' it is very tight anyway.)OR is it only required so that it cant be tampered with? Ive made a removable cover for mine. Wouldnt want it to fail on something silly like this.

I know I've read it somewhere, but having looked in my MSVA manual since, can't find it in there.
It'd make sense to me to have a means of stopping it vibrating out of adjustment -wouldn't want to come to a road junction & suddenly find you've got no brakes. You could use a locking wire like the race guys do -drill the adjuster knob, thread a wire through it, loop it around the adjuster neck a couple of times & twist it up tight with a pair of pliers, obviously making sure you tuck the sharp wire ends away out of the reach of the tester's fingers. It's then easily removable after the test if you don't like it.
