Rear mudguards

Hi all,
Just wondering what people's opinions are about different types of mudguards. I've just bought some 5 spoke revolution wheels with 275/60/15 tyres for my ural trike. Now I obviously need new mudguards , the question is what sort? Given that I live down a Cumbrian country lane frequented by cows sheep and horses, not to mention the spring time slurry tankers ,my desired short mudguards would leave me covered in you know what!!! So I need guards that will stop most of the crap, it's easy to see the guards on line , but no pictures of them fitted . They would need to be 12" min width. Any ideas? Then would have to come new rear lights . Open to surgestions for those too.
Many thanks Cheers Phil

I've a pair of these I'll be selling shortly , 8 1/4 inch wide but easily widened. £60 pair plus shipping.

I generally use steel trailer guards, narrowing or widening as required, and at a cost of around £24/pair, depending where you get them, the pic is of a narrowed one, but you can widen them just as easily bi inserting a m/s strip of required width, as in pic 2Morrag

Thanks guys,
I really like the look of those hugger type guards that sit close to the wheel and cover half the circumference of the tyre . Has any body seen them fitted?

C an you see any downsides to using them?
Cheers Phil Not sure if I've put the URL on as a link properly. Sorry.

Only downside to using close fitting, deep sided mudguards, is having to take them off to remove a wheel.

Yes I thought that would be a downside, I'm still torn , I want to show of as much of the tread as possible but without getting covered in poop! Oh to live in an ideal world !!! I'll just keep looking around and if nothing suits I'll have a go at making some.
Cheers Phil .
