Anyone got any top tips for removing excessive carbon build up in engine parts?

If it's steel soak it in caustic.
Always good to remove carbon.

If the carbon is very oily the caustic doesn't always work well. On two stroke exhausts we used to burn the oil off first with a blow torch.

Yep that's exactly what we used to do in the day.

But it you send your two stroke ex to a plating company they will soak it in hot caustic for day's,
Maybe a week,They must be clean before they will put them in the tanks.
