i didn't book in last year as i wasn't prepared to pay for camping as in previous years it was free. downloaded the pdf file booking form and they want 30 quid to camp and also want a minmum donation of 5 quid. when did a donation become compulsary ( i think thats right). i don't have a problem giving to car events when its a charity thing. i wonder if they're gonna start cherging for the windsor show.

its the old wings, wheels, speed and steam thats held at white waltham near maidenhead. last year they were involved with the windsor show after the original peeps stopped doing it, we only heard it was on a couple of weeks beforehand. i wonder if they're charging for entry because of all the acts they've got on, maybe they didn't get enough paying to camp. they're also doing a military event so i wonder what the charge to the public will be.

I wouldn't mind paying the fiver if it was advertised up front, but that's a bit sneaky not mentioning it until you get the booking form I must admit. So it's a re-named old event then.

We went to this for the day, last year, in the daily and enjoyed it. This year we're doing the whole weekend with our newly aquired (and by then refurbised) Portafold caravan, on their stand, together with some others on here.

going by the booking form it looks like you might have to pay, but ic ould be wrong. they want to charge 45 quid for rv's
Caravans, RVs, Air Streams, campervans, whatever your camping vehicle, we can accomodate you. Lots of showers and toilets nearby plus 24 hour security.
RV pitches are £45.00 all other camping vehicles £35.00
if yer exhibiting an air stream and kipping in it it would appear you gotta pay 35.

After a few questions here is the response from the Portafold group, who we were going to camp with This was a very good show last year, and as mentioned, he has some very good bands playing this year, so the cost has obviously risen as a result.
I've finally got hold of the boss of the show. Had a long chat with him and explained my situation (that I've been promoting the show since September) and that I've been pushing it as a free show. What he's doing is raising money for charities that keep ex armed forces off the streets. Apparently, 30% of ex armed forces servicemen end up living on the streets, and 80% off homeless people are ex armed forces. So he's raising money by taking minimum £5 from each exhibit. In their defence they've ramped up the show massively for this year. He said we'd hardly recognise it, and he did mention that weekend tickets are £50 for non-exhibitors. I've compromised with him by saying this year I'll rattle a tin on the stand to raise money for his causes and then for 2013 I'll be in the know in advance. So it's all as you were. No panic.

the 'donation' cheque has to be made out to the organisers. i'd rather put my money in a collection tin. i wonder if ss are all the 'donation' cheque money to help for heroes. this is the email i had from them though i'm not fully sure what they are on about in the first part of it
Thank you for completing and returning the application form to show your vehicle at the Retrofestival.
I am currently going through all the forms and would like to ask if David had responded to your email referring to a weekend pass? If not, you are aloud one weekend pass at £12 for the whole weekend and there is a £5 min donation for the vehicles to be shown at the festival and all proceeds go to Help For Hero . We did not receive payment with your application form and will process this once it has been received.
so it would appear that if i want to put me car into the show i gotta pay 17 quid. why 12 quid for a weekend pass whats that all about
