As per the title ........  I bought a 30'odd year old leather flying helmet and goggles , but it has spent most of that time at the back of a cupboard and has a strong 'musty' smell  .......    the smell seems to be mainly in the fabric liner and thats not removable so I cant whip it out and wash it  .......   Shocked

So what I need is something moist to dab on my helmet ......  that'll take out the smell but not damage the fabric liner or the leather outer  ........  any ideas ?

Dry cleaning solution. May have to dilute it a lot at first and then get a bit stronger with it as it goes. I  have resisted the urge to make childish double entendre`s so that my advice doesn`t get lost in the gutter with all the helmet gags  Grin Grin Grin Grin

You can buy Helmet deodorizer from a motor cycle shop or eBay.

Febrese spray - you can buy it in supermarkets, it's for furniture etc but I use it on clothes that are 'dry clean only' when I've been somewhere smoky.  Well I used to when there were smoky places!

You got me on that one Hagar, I've never encountered a "musty poofs glove box" - tell us more about that experience Smiley
