Title: Donor Bike For Trike
Post by: adriandiamond on June 28, 2006, 04:10:40 PM
Here is the bike as a bike that I am now converting to a trike. It is a Yamaha XS 750 E That I bought in Dec 2005, stripped down to frame and rebuilt.
Unfortunately being such a short arse I can't get my feet flat on the floor and that was my problem when the bike decided it wanted to topple over one day.
Full story on www.adiessite.piczo.com. So now it is being loving converted to a trike.
You can follow the trike progress on the above web site (click on Trike Things).

A few years ago, that was probably the most popular "donor" in the country. I've triked loads of them. Good choice! By the way, they've got a "tilt" switch in the wiring that cuts the engine if they go over (well, some have).

I never noticed a tilt switch when I rebuilt it. Where would it be if there is one?

My mate's bike fell over, and we couldn't re-start it until it was re-set. Dunno if a previous owner had fitted it, but it definately had one.

Seems a good idea and probably wouldn't take much thought to make and fit one.
Note to self............tomorrow figure out automatic tilt switch.

Cheers Desperate

Try under the fuel tank. Am building an xs1100 trike at the mo and that had one in the loom.

If it falls over once it's triked you got some serious problems!
I had several of these, plus the 850. Lovely bikes. Built a stripped down lightweight single seater 750 for an ex girlfriend. She preferred my standard 850 though so we ended up doing a swap.

Yeh, but I'm building it so there's every chance it could tip.  ;D

Refurbished the Reliant handbrake today in readyness to fit, no photos yet but will put some on my site tomorrow.
