Title: e10 fuel warning.
Post by: Olds on October 13, 2021, 07:36:24 AM
No, this is not about the corrosive effects of Ethanol in petrol. I think we all know about that by now.
I recently bought a fairly new bike (2016) and before it was delivered the dealer kindly filled the tank with fuel.
Damn that bike ran hot ! Too hot ! Luckily I realised this after just a couple of miles.
Seems he 'may' have filled it with e10. This can make some modern bikes run very lean. They run fairly lean anyway to get through modern emission requirements and e10 can tip them over the edge fuelling wise, especially with fuel injection.
Tank was drained and refilled with e5 and all is well. Runs better and much cooler.

A timely warning though! and what happens when only E10 is eventually, available?......can't be doin' with all these changes at my age! ??? and I am aware that fuelling can be "trimmed" to suit, but hey, if it's not broke and all that...chunter, chunter, chunter... :'(Morrag.
