Title: Max power for a reliant axle
Post by: Donut on January 31, 2020, 01:15:18 AM
Peep's

If a reliant axle was to get re tubed (thicker and better) and new half shafts (custom jobbies from a professional) what would the diff be able to handle? 150bhp, 200bhp or more and do I need to see the doc for a few pill's!!  reason is ready for the next project and have a few said axles lying about and don't want them to go to waste.

cheers

Gary

The later thick shafts will take whatever you throw at them I think. You're right about the tubes though.
As for the diff, a decent 900 should be fine, but it does depend how hard you ride it?

Sorry what do you mean by a decent 900?

Ha, good question, meant 900cc bike engine. But what's decent? Maybe the old 8 valvers had as much torque as a later multivalve - i don't know but I suspect not. Whatever, a 900 will be pushing out around 80bhp or so?

ah it was obvious but I was a bit slow, coming off nights.

I am thinking more 230-300bhp!!

Save the reliant for something that won't kill it. You need a bmw, jag, ford axle.

Yes I had thought of Ford but wanting a reliant style axel but need a diff closer to 2.86 and cant find ratios close to that apart from the reliant hence the question

Sorry guy's

I have just noticed you can get a 3.09 ration so assume that will do for what I am after.

Triumph Rocket with super charger and Ford axle!!

Ok so will sell off all the stuff I have collected to convert a Vmax - all well

Are you planning a drag trike?
