Title: Xj650 seca rebuild
Post by: minimutly on August 19, 2019, 09:03:24 PM
Thanks to our mankiness I hope to be able to show a pic or two of the 650 Seca.
This bike really does look a mess, the rear wheel painted purple, then yellow (peeled), frame has holes in it, it had been on its side for a long time, carbs seized etc.
So I put some oil down the bores, and everywhere else. Found a front wheel and some fork tubes, and then pushed it in gear to turn it over. That was all months ago - it's been neglected in a shed for over a year.
Last week I fitted a battery, refitted the rebuilt Hitachis, throttle cable etc. Cleaned plugs, tested for spark, replaced two plug tops, hey presto, sparks. So a long squirt into the airbox (after removing the nuts), short out the solenoid and it fired! Fitted my fuel tank bottle, and after a few cleans of the plugs I had a warmed up Yamaha. The smoke out the exhaust was blinding, eventually it cleared, and now it starts on the first jamb of the screwdriver.
Massive amount of work still to do, but I will persevere...
And thanks to Andy for offering to resize the pics, big mistake Andy..

No problem :)
They need to be JPEG images to post them on the forum.
