What are aero cars?

Cars powered by aircraft engines.
Common practice for early land speed cars as a way to get more engine capacity.

Afraid not quite.........

We’re talking (in general) pre-war (tho often around the time of The Great war), internal combustion engines powering rear wheels.

Engines such a
Napier Lion broad-arrow formation 12 cylinder, 24 litres,
Liberty V12 of 27 litres
Merlin V12 of 27 litres
Maybach Zeppelin of 23 litres

Some folk have, for bit of a jolly wheeze in recent years, constructed cars with such engines  8)

and a couple more.

As far as I'm aware, Babs is currently at Beaulieu  (often at Brooklands, and at Pendine)

Brooklands is home to the Napier Railton, a Land Speed Record car

Land speed cars incl aero-engined monsters running on beaches (somehow don't think this event will be quite like the footage!)
