Title: Auto Correct Post by: Manky Monkey on August 26, 2018, 11:43:44 AM I've almost given up with my laptop now & use my phone for everything, including posting here. It's got a very good quality camera, good internet access, including my recent trips to America, & a big enough screen to watch movies on. Unfortunately it also has Auto Correct, which drives me mad.
If I type the word hotrod, it changes it to "horrid". If I talk about my bike, it changes chop to "crap". And I live just off Worting Road, which it deciphers as "worried road". Maybe my Smart Phone's smarter than I am. Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: stinkey on August 26, 2018, 08:20:24 PM You can change the auto correct ..I kink,stink,pink,shrink.. ::)?
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: BikerGran on August 27, 2018, 12:42:41 PM You can also turn it off!
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: Manky Monkey on August 27, 2018, 07:16:37 PM You seriously think I'd know how to?! :P
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: BikerGran on August 28, 2018, 03:21:12 AM I haven't found out how yet but you're younger than me!

Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: the coppersmith on August 31, 2018, 08:19:59 PM Not being a techie, and near enough deaf, I have never bothered much with phones. However my recent renewed friendship with an old friend convinced me I am a dinosaur. So, with her help, patience, bullying and holding my hand, I am now the proud owner of an I phone 8+. Wallet empty, but I am learning so much about what I have missed. I can take excellent photos with a phone ! And me a diehard camera man. I'm off on a sabbatical now and can use it to look at the MMM site while laid on a sun drenched beach in Portugal !! I can even make phone calls with it !! If only I could hear what they were saying back ;D ;D
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: BikerGran on September 02, 2018, 10:00:48 AM You can get an app which turns speech into text I think - ask your clever friend about it! Or you could set it so that all calls go straight to voicemail and hear a message asking them to use text only.
Of course that means you have to learn how to do text messages - my Mike hasn't achieved that yet (don't think he's trying very hard!) ;) Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: Manky Monkey on September 02, 2018, 08:49:02 PM I was in my Post Office van with my "van buddy" the other day, having our meal break, & he was chatting to me while I was sending a message to someone. I suddenly realised my phone was listening to what he was saying & typing it at the bottom of the message I was writing. Very bizarre.
I've got no idea how I managed to turn that mode on, but it's obviously built into my Huawei phone. Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: BikerGran on September 03, 2018, 09:55:30 PM A lot of people are saying they've got these Huawei phones now - must be the next big thing!
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: Manky Monkey on September 03, 2018, 11:16:20 PM They're Chinese. I'm with the 3 network & they're the phones they give you with your contract.
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: BikerGran on September 04, 2018, 10:42:32 PM My phone is on Carphone Warehouse's iD network, which is basically 3 but I don't know whether it's the phone or the network but there seem to be more places I don't get coverage than where I do.
Title: Re: Auto Correct Post by: Manky Monkey on September 05, 2018, 05:47:02 PM :) Not had any problems with coverage on my phone, but my laptop uses a 3 mobile wifi dongle which can be a bit temperamental. I've used the phone in America with no problems at all.
