Feeling shattered this morning after a long day travelling yesterday & not getting to bed till about 2 this morning. It's 85 degrees here at 8.40 in the morning.
I want to go across the water to Brooklyn, but might have a day of mooching around the city today.

In the taxi from the airport yesterday, we drove past Flushing Meadow in Queens. Recognised these towers immediately. They're left over from the 1965 World Trade Fair, but featured in the final scenes of the first Men in Black film.

I thought this was a bicycle at first with ape hangers, you know the chopper ones made to look like a motorbike. It was only when I enlarged it that I could see the engine (I'm on my 6" phone).  ::)

Fancy a rufty tufty man riding a bike with those colours. He must have nicked it off his girlfriend. He must either be very secure about his sexuality or desperate for a vehicle.  :D

No front brake too ? Or is it fading into Andys time tunnel ? ::)

 :) Lots of bikes in the city, but mainly sports hobbies. I've seen a couple of nice bobbers, but in too much traffic to bother photographing them.
Several exotic sports cars too, but I'm more interested in the huge trucks.

Lots of Yam xj's there, they do a city tour every now and then - must be awesummm

I'll post a few photos, but I took 2000, so it's hard to choose half a dozen.
Visited Indian Larry's bike shop in Brooklyn & a really cool Brit bike repair shop called 6th Street Racing in the Lower East Side. Several gorgeous old cars sat in side streets in the poorer neighbourhoods, lots of big trucks & interesting work vehicles. I got odd looks from locals for photographing stuff that's normal everyday to them, but was cool to me.
Ate in a different vintage diner every day, grabbed chilli dogs from street corner vendors, hailed yellow taxi cabs, rode the subway to Brooklyn & Queens, spent a day at Coney Island -did all the stuff you see in the movies & loved it all.

I always reckon you haven't really been to a place if you haven't wandered the back streets and seen stuff that's not in the guide books.  Did that with my daughters recently in Barcelona and a few years ago in Pisa with Mike.
