Title: Petition: Make motorcycle awareness part of the theory test
Post by: JayJay on November 13, 2017, 07:10:35 PM
This petition on the Gvt web site is about making motorcycle awareness part of the theory test so other vehicle drivers will think about motorbikes/scooters/trikes/mopeds before pulling out of junctions or changing lanes etc.

I'm pretty sure many of the bikers on this forum have had a close call.  :-\  I think the 'Think once, Think twice, Think bike!' advert is very powerful but it's not often shown now so perhaps including awareness in the Theory Test might help.

Mind you, it works both ways and bikers need to consider their actions too. It's usually the L platers who take the most risks by not riding defensively. Bikers with experience tend to be more aware. I had a close call with a bike the other week. Totally my fault but the biker must have realised what I was going to do and gave me the space. I realised at the last second and put my hand up to say sorry but I was saying thank you too. I felt so sick but also so grateful I hadn't hit him/her.

To add your signature, see the link below. It asks for your name, email and postcode. It then sends you an email and you need to click the link to complete your signing of the petition.

Cheers, JJ  :)
