Title: Lacquer for aluminium. Post by: Olds on July 11, 2017, 11:03:52 AM Any suggestions for a good lacquer for use on aluminium ?
Fork legs need refinishing. It won't be a polish job but a brushed finish as original. Planning on using polyurethane but wondered if anyone knew of anything better. Title: Re: Lacquer for aluminium. Post by: the coppersmith on July 11, 2017, 11:16:17 AM I recently tried Halfords own clear lacquer in a spray tin, went on and looks great, BUT, its only a few weeks old yet.

Title: Re: Lacquer for aluminium. Post by: BikerGran on July 12, 2017, 04:24:36 PM I used some brush-on lacquer when I did my Honda forks - can't remember what it was, got it at a bike show from a stall selling alu-brite and similar.
But I followed the instructions and put LOTS of coats on - it was pretty good! Title: Re: Lacquer for aluminium. Post by: Olds on July 12, 2017, 06:26:55 PM Thanks BG. In the end I used the Halfrauds PU as I had a can. Takes forever to dry and needs 30 minutes between coats.
