Title: Classic daily drivers
Post by: Manky Monkey on November 21, 2016, 08:47:00 PM
Saw these 2 parked in different side streets in Christchurch, Dorset yesterday. Always makes my day to see oldies getting used instead of sitting in a museum or rusting away under a tarpaulin.  :)

You in Christchurch then Stinkey?
Moggy Minors always make me smile. I've owned 3 of 'em. Lovely little cars.

I had one too - wonderful little car - though mine was a Morris 1000 - never let me down except once in Wales - I just stopped at the roadside and sorted the carb and went on.

This Armstrong Siddley Ute only lives 2 miles up the road but the first I've seen of it about.

Sweet AS. Almost all went abroad. They also did a Station coupe version of the ute. Longer doors and two rows of seats, but I've never seen one in this country. My dad had a AS for a while but all I can remember, is it being big and black with the Sphinx mascot.

One of my customers has 2 Siddleys, which are his Summer dailies. Absolutely no idea what models but, as you say Dave, big & black with shiny Sphinxes on the front.

A friend of my brother had an AS for a while, he took me for a ride in it.  Again, no idea of model but it had a bonnet about 3 miles long.  All the steering linkages were horribly worn and he couldn't keep it in a straight line so we progressed along the road in a series of graceful curves!
