http://www.vhra.co.uk/VHRA/Atomic.html ATOMIC is an amazing weekend… Two incredible days, packed with 1950s rock’n’roll music, dancing, late bars, superb vintage stalls and flea market, great street food served from vintage vans, and non-stop fun, action and mid-century style. Thousands of like-minded people, a top quality international line-up of bands & DJs playing in spectacular indoor venues, traditional flag-start drag racing, air displays, jiving, bopping & strolling in an historic hangar and an enormous big-top with a 6000 sq ft dance floor, a pre-1963 car show and drive-in movie, poodles, roller skating… and the best festival atmosphere ever! Racing classes Racing will take place in six classes: PRE-1949 AMERICAN HOT RODS No disc brakes or radial tyres on pre-1935 cars. On later, full-fendered cars they may be allowed if not obviously visible. Cars may be built from replica parts but must be traditional in style. PRE-1949 STOCK AMERICAN CARS & COMMERCIALS Radial tyres allowed. No other modifications. Modified cars will race in hot rod class. MODIFIED AMERICAN CARS AND COMMERCIALS 1949-1963 Modifications allowed but the vehicle’s appearance must be in period. No pro-street, billet wheels, etc. STOCK AMERICAN CARS AND COMMERCIALS 1949-1963 Radial tyres allowed. No other modifications. BRITISH AND EUROPEAN CARS UP TO 1963 No US engines unless factory fitted (eg Allard). Period specials allowed. BIKES – AMERICAN, BRITISH AND EUROPEAN UP TO 1963 Must be in period.
