Title: T 100
Post by: morrag on August 28, 2016, 10:51:46 PM
My trusty 1965 T100, which I have had for 40 years, and is now in need of some TLC, so a start has been made! watch this space, just don't expect any heroics in "Green!", ;), or multiple speedo cables ;D.........Morrag

Will do, at present its all in "bitz" but I rebuilt it 35 years ago, so I shall probably only need to lift the head to have a 'look'! but all the cycle parts need refurbishing/ repainting, and all those years ago I put it together in CafĂ© racer style, but now, with respect to the march of time, mine that is not the 'bike's ! I shall return it to its original style, that of the mid 60's roadster, which of course it is. I naturally kept all the original cycle parts, which, with the exception of the front wheel, although I still have the standard SLS item, I shall retain the TLS I put in all that time ago, as its quite nice to stop, as well as "go" :D, and Triumph front brakes were not, in my opinion, too clever at that. The first 'Trumpet' I owned was a 1939 T100, then a 1947 3T, then....well the brakes seemed to go downhill in performance there after,  ???, still no real complaints. So, back to the Future then................Morrag

Couple of pics showing how paintwork deteriorates under a cover in the back of the workshop! but a nice original 60's rear number plate and toolbox cover, still sporting an IoM sticker from TT week, 1979, I think!! ::) ho, hum, a bit to do then.....but hey, I have got all Winter ahead..........................

Here's a couple of pics of progress on my T100, if only to remind people that there are other, earlier!, twins out there, than XS's :D.....freshly painted and motor back in the frame, so...Summers coming?.. well maybe ;D..nowt done during the bleakest 3 months of Winter but over the past couple of weeks, had a bit of a restart, indeed tidied up my SV in the past week, taxed it today, so ready to get a leg over it next fine day, ahh summer..Morrag

And one more, trying to decide whether to convert the alternator and electrics to 12v at pres. though for the amount of night riding I do these days, it may not be worth the trouble, shall give it some further consideration and let you know, Morrag

They are an excellent drum brake, and I have used them before on my Velocettes, to good effect over the standard ware, so many thanks, again, for that, Morrag

always liked the Tiger 100, it never whipped like the bonnie did, how did we let all this go to ruin and then the Japs come along with a "new" idea, a twin ??

A few more...nope, its not a Yamaha whatsit, or even a Kawasaki thingy, that's for our younger viewers!! but provided you don't want to stop too quickly, and you are not averse to the 'Trumpet' version of "Miners white finger!" they are ok ;D ;D ;D...Morrag..ps, and of course, like me, so bloody old as to not require Road tax!!

Each to his own Stinks, we are all different! and indeed in the 40 years I have owned this particular Triumph its been through many incarnations! so this is just as it looks now, having said that, my "daily driver" is currently this Suzuki, and I have had that some years as well! but it does everything very nicely, so is my regular transport of choice, not the Triumph, still it makes for a nostalgic change :D :D..Morrag
