Title: Taps and dies
Post by: markju on July 12, 2015, 01:30:53 PM
Recently used this company

www.tracytools.com

I bought some taps and dies from them, BSC or British Standard Cycle Thread. Never even heard of that type of thread a month ago. They carry a large range and their website is worth a look at. Quick delivery as well.

Cycle thread.
Very common thread on pushbikes until fairly recently (1970s ?) and pre war motorcycles for frame and wheels. Normally 26 TPI but for some reason 24 TPI was sometimes used.

I've just  come across this thread type on a 1952 James Cadet. I was just pleased to find somewhere that stocks such obscure items. Otherwise you end up paying ebays silly prices.

I have been using Tracytools for a number of years, they do have a stall at some of the bike jumbles, my last purchase from them was left handed dies for threading spindles on girder forks, I find them very helpful..
