Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 23, 2006, 06:36:57 PM Care to explain that a little Sir? I'm curious now.
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 23, 2006, 09:21:33 PM This will be machined to fit the other side of the wheel to mount the Disc brake rotor.
When I have done the drawing I will post (nearly complete) An here's an artists impression (that's piss artist) Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 23, 2006, 11:29:30 PM So you're taking the centre out of that wheel to use as a hub?
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 24, 2006, 02:19:09 AM Part of the hub yes

Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: trikerpete on July 25, 2006, 11:35:37 AM Hey Manky, Dont you just hate all these people with this machinery in their sheds ;) ;D hehehehe
Hello Doc, hows it going. Hope you ok. :) Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 11:58:04 AM Am 100% thanx Pete.
Shed what shed, had to do this at work last night and will probably take another 2-3 evenings work to complete and that's just one bit. After the milling I have to set the lathe up to turn the edge to suit the other wheel. Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 25, 2006, 12:10:05 PM I've got a hacksaw & a handfile -& blisters. >:(
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 03:27:10 PM Least you've got a garage with electrikery in it !
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 25, 2006, 08:33:27 PM Not mine. SkaMan's. Mine's just a lock-up.
Been too hot to contemplate the hour's walk across town to work on the trike today. Will be cadging a lift back to Janie & Dave's place to have a look at the freebie bike later in the week. So skint I can't afford to spend anything on it at the moment though. :( Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 09:45:34 PM Ah! so we are in the "same boat" so to speak. The only advantage I have is the workshop where I work which I can only use once in a while otherwise it's classed as stealing, I class it as part of my wages (Seein' as I get paid JackSh*t). Anyways "Hard work will do you good" so my old Mum used to say, and it's a grand feeling pissing passed some Boom or Rewco trike purchased off the shelf, knowing it's all your own work (or most of it).
Chin up Bro, the frames looking splendid I know how you feel Andy I went through the no money bit when I started the trike. If theres any thing you need just ask I maybe able to help. and it's only an hour or so to your stamping grounds. Had another windfall this evening have now got enough 1 7/8" CDS tube for the forks, was going to use 1 3/4" but had trouble finding any at the right price. Walked into a friends garage and spied 2 1 meter lengths, so now having the yokes bored out to 48.5 ish mm. That's another crisis averted will be doing more milling tomorrow night hope to have the milling completed by the end of the week then the Turning next week, only got two more bits of the hub to get then it's PLAYTIME. So far the front end has cost me a BIG FAT £0 and I would say that I'm almost there with the parts, the only bits left to get are 2 more wheel bearings, the two previously mentioned bits of stock for the hub, something to make the swingarm from (2"x 1" box steel would do) 2 bearings for the piviot blocks and some 1" thick wall steel Channel, and the brake mounting bits plus two discs which I havn't even started to look for yet and a few other bit's and bob's. Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 09:56:20 PM more pic's
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 25, 2006, 09:57:33 PM Stamping grounds -postman -ha, ha, ha!!
Sorry. Took out a mortgage on a flat the size of a walk-in cupboard when I was with the girlfriend before last -or was it the one before that? I forget. Trouble is, now I'm single I'm still paying all the same bills on one wage. Maybe I should flog the flat & live in the garage! Sounds like you've been a busy bunny matey. That's an ultra low machine you've got there -what's the seat height on your tricycle? Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 10:01:02 PM That was the old version of twisted as I 'm sure you can tell it's the same Trike (Honest Orrificer)
I think it was about 14-16" at the seat Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 25, 2006, 10:18:01 PM Jeez! Can't get ours any lower than about 20" because of the height of the prop. Suprised you could see over the bars!
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 25, 2006, 10:32:36 PM Frame was about 1/2" from the prop, saved my nut's when I bust the Propshaft at 80mph
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on July 25, 2006, 10:43:59 PM Eek! :o
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: adriandiamond on July 26, 2006, 12:31:47 PM I've got a hacksaw & a handfile -& blisters. >:( You haven't used a hacksaw or handfile for ages, so why the blisters ??? ;D Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on August 02, 2006, 07:01:35 AM Mother in Law visiting and has stopped play this week, will try to get some more work done soon. Now have all the pipe and have changed fork size to 48mm as that's the size of the CDS tubing that I found this means that the yokes need to be machined to accept the 48mm tubing.
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on January 08, 2007, 05:28:06 PM New photos of the yokes just in now, I can do some more work on the front end.
The Chap doing the work is Kev who works at our place and just happens to have a Milling machine at home lucky him. Oh! by the way Thanks KEV !!!! Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: Manky Monkey on January 09, 2007, 03:34:40 PM Nice yokes.
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: spanners on January 09, 2007, 03:47:21 PM nice milling machine ;D
Title: Re: Cantilever Forks Update Post by: TwistedPatience on July 05, 2007, 05:45:09 AM Not had much time or room to do much to the forks but yesterday I did manage to put the tubes together ready to go on the jig.
