Title: MOT dilemma Post by: BikerGran on July 17, 2011, 09:02:59 PM We have an MOT station that's known for doing bikes and trikes but it's about 9 miles away so I thought I'd find out if there are any more in the area, and it turns out there is one just round the corner! - Well that's to say that VOSA told me this place does Class 3 and I understand that if they do Class 3 that includes trikes whether they've done them before or not, they can't say "We don't do trikes".
Which is where the dilemma comes in, as I haven't heard of them doing trikes - on the other hand, I don't really know any trikers in this area strangely! So do I book in there and give it a go? It's so much more convenient. Or should I bite the bullet and give up half a day (with the traffic and the waiting, that's what it will be) and go to the usual place in Poole? Opinions please! Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: BikerGran on July 17, 2011, 09:56:39 PM yeah, could drop in. Could phone em up but they have to say yes and I don't want them to if they know sweet FA as I think it means they're more likely to fail it!
Never know if I don't try I guess. But I really don't want a a fail cos mmm hhmmm mumble mumble.. don't want to say on a public forum! ;) Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: morrag on July 17, 2011, 10:23:57 PM Stick with the place you know, and accept the time penalty, as I can guess at the reasons for your concern with the "unknown quantity" station!! thats what I would do anyway.......TTFN, Morrag
Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: skiprat on July 18, 2011, 07:11:56 AM wouldnt worry about a 9 mile trip, just make sure your appointment is booked in, then your covered if you get a pull
I have about 60 mile round trip to MOT LOL while a MOT centre cant refuse to test, I would be a little wary that if they never done one before, will they be over cautious? or particularly with testing of reliants, they micht not know what they are looking at :) I have had to stand my ground in the past with regards to bike and trike MOT's luckily I pretty much know the books back to front, so know what I need and dont need, has now resulted in my MOT tester for the chops, just looking at me and asking if its going to pass LOL Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: BikerGran on July 18, 2011, 12:45:10 PM I hear what you all say and my instinct too is to with the place I know. Maybe I'll have a word with the other place afterwards and find out if they do trikes often.
BTW skiprat, mine's a Kwak GT550 not one of they 'ol Reliant jobs! ;) Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: ByzMax on July 21, 2011, 10:52:54 PM I always go to the same place. It saves time in the end as you know them and they know your trike ;)
Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: BikerGran on July 22, 2011, 09:26:06 PM True, and it's booked in for Monday. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't pass, even the handbrake is working! But I feel uncomfortable being optimistic.........
Title: Re: MOT dilemma Post by: Manky Monkey on July 23, 2011, 05:46:06 PM I hate MOTs. Always dread them -they feel like school exams.
