Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: RODeo on June 30, 2011, 05:15:41 PM Thanks TB. Couldnt find them on the net! A couple of switches puzzle me...
The indicator switch doesnt hold over when pushed to the left or right. Whats the 'push' for ? see wiring diagrams. Whats the 'passing light' for? Thanks Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: tbone on June 30, 2011, 05:37:20 PM The passing light switch is a main headlamp beam flasher switch.
The "push" would usually denote a `push to operate` switch Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: RODeo on June 30, 2011, 06:17:02 PM Ok I'll check it out when I get home from work.
Thanks Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: Tony oily bike on June 30, 2011, 06:23:31 PM Thanks TB. Couldnt find them on the net! A couple of switches puzzle me... Thanks Not sure if this if any use (lazy me didn't look at the diagram) - On Yam's, the indicator activator springs back immediately you let go, leaving the indicators running for a set time / distance. Pushing the indicator button cancells the signal. Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: tbone on June 30, 2011, 06:57:38 PM I`m afraid sports bikes aren`t my thing mate.
Tony`s suggestion is a good one, or you may have to slide it across then press it in to hold it there ? Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: RODeo on June 30, 2011, 07:30:18 PM I'll have a fiddle with the switch......(oo er!) ::)
Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: Cabman77 on June 30, 2011, 09:14:10 PM indicator on the virago returns to central position too, you cancel the indicator by pressing the button in.
Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: Hagar on June 30, 2011, 09:16:16 PM On my virago , the indicator switch is self-centering and you push it in to cancel ( stays on till canceled ) .....
.. Hagar .. ;D OOOPPPS ..... too slow ... ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: RODeo on July 01, 2011, 05:02:27 AM Just had another look at the switch.Indeed it does cancel by depressing the lever. Clever little mechanism in there! :-[
Thanx guys........... Rod Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: Tony oily bike on July 01, 2011, 05:30:46 AM Update ..sort of! Just read tony oily bikes post again,(and again!) So is there a timer connected somewhere? Cant see anything in the casing itself..all looks mechanical in there. From memory, Yam's old sales brochures used to describe the indicators as 'self cancelling', which was great if you were forgetful, but a hassle if you wanted them on for ages. I don't know how they worked!!, which is why I said 'distance/time', but I used to find myself 'refreshing' the turn signal manually just in case they were thinking of stopping. Don't know what Suzuki have tho..... (or if Yam still have them). Hope that helps.......... Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: RODeo on July 01, 2011, 10:42:51 AM Thanks Tony. You quoted my post just as I deleted it! All ok now 8),thanks for everyones input!

One of the switches already mentioned appears to be the "passing light " switch.I presume the lights work for the length of time it is depressed. So..why would I use this switch,I dont flash/put my lights on when passing vehicles when driving my car,and Ive never seen a bike flash its lights anyway. Is this some sort of gimmick,or maybe a necessity? If I remove the switch and wiring to it(I could do with thinning out the amount of wires Im trying to get thro' the bars)might I have probs with MSVA,possibly with a "fitted must work" rule?
Thanks Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: tbone on July 02, 2011, 12:42:49 PM Leaving it and not using it wont be a problem, personally i would wire it up, it can be difficult acknowledging people when hanging on to handlebars.

Thanks The switch is designed to be a 'visual horn', to let folk know you're there when they haven't seen you. An example might be when they're about to pull out in front of you, are looking at you but haven't actually seen you. Another example is when you're overtaking someone and they start to move over, the flashing of the headlight could be the only thing that lets them realise you're there. Personal view from experience, I'd keep it on there................ to me its close to a necessity, not a gimmick. Ride safe! ;) Title: Re: Suzuki rs900 wiring diagram Post by: Cabman77 on July 02, 2011, 06:40:48 PM I thought it was a legal requirement on all new vehicles, and has been for a long time.
