.. Hagar .. Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: voodoo on June 28, 2011, 06:39:52 PM hi all thx for support....I have got in touch with insurance and got that underway...Lucky for me I have another complete 535 that I was planning on selling in a few weeks that is now gonna be now used to rebuild the Trike...Just glad it was me on it and not the Mrs as she would not of had a clue what to do.....Its metal and can easily enough be rebuilt or at least used as a plan for the next Trike....Only problem is I was going to be taking it to Norway for 3 weeks in August so I now have a very tight schedule to get it sorted or replaced...If I cant get it rebuilt in time I will just get a Blackbird or similar to go on....Voodoo....
Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: kevsky on June 28, 2011, 06:45:36 PM Best of luck with it mate
Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: Cabman77 on June 28, 2011, 07:12:08 PM its made me pause for thought weather its worth carrying a small fire extinguisher when i go out you just never know it could happen to any one,its a real shame, glad your safe any way voodoo thats the main thing. [/quot Sadly the only fire extinguisher that would have had any hope would be a full sized one. Those lovely little things they sell in Halfords are of no use whatsoever on any fire (other than a box of matches alight on the floor). In fact a bike or trike fire (being out in the open) would need a dry powder extinguisher, and that stuff gets in everywhere. I had a bonnie chop catch light and a nice man from the waterboard put it out with a dry powder extinguisher. The powder got into all the oilways, even into the crank and it took me nearly two months to strip and rebuild the engine because of it. So basically if it looks no more powerful than a fart in a paperbag it is of no more use than a fart in a paperbag. ;D ;D ;D ;D You have my deepest sympathies Voodoo, glad you`re safe. Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: klogan45 on June 28, 2011, 07:15:41 PM Just seen this post.
I know it doesn't help but what a bloody shame. There's not much of a bright side, you may be thinking but you're ok. Could have been a lot worse if you had been burnt as well. Three weeks, that's loads of time i'm sure and you'll get away one way or the other and enjoy it just as much. Try and keep your pecker up mate. Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: Manky Monkey on June 28, 2011, 07:29:45 PM Jeez Dave. Nothing more that can be said really, but just glad you escaped unscathed.

Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: Simple Simon on July 07, 2011, 07:36:44 PM :'( Thats a real kick mate. At least you noticed the smoke before you felt the flames.
As Mike says take the insurance money and buy the trike back off them. Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: voodoo on July 23, 2011, 10:25:32 PM Once I got it home & did a bit of investigating it tured out to be the genuine Yamaha Virago ignition I got for it decieded it wanted to short out and melt the wires causing the fire by the looks of things....
Insurance classed it as a cat B so no salvage for me...instead a bike breakers will end up buying it from the salvage company and make a killing on my loss lol.....On a plus side they have agreed with my valuation for it & have paid me out in full....... Already got another Virago here stripped and 90% done paintwork wise so just got to finish the paint & convert it over to a Trike.......Also managed to buy another Trike that I have to arrange going to collect in sunny Scotland......Voodoo.... Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: Simple Simon on July 24, 2011, 10:58:12 AM I had a bike written off and the insurance wouldnt let me buy it back. When the breaker phoned to arrange collection I struck a deal with him directly, stripped everything I needed and scrapped the frame. Might be worth having a word with the breaker mate, you never know he may be up for it. ;)
Title: Re: Bollox! Post by: voodoo on July 26, 2011, 07:05:34 PM Ho Hum......Value agreed & just waiting for the cash to hit my bank, which cant happen too soon as got a vehicle or 2 lined up awaiting me paying for them......Fingers crossed Mr Toad sorts something out for me about my old Trike & if everything works out right for once I will be a happy bunny...No Snares, ferrets, Jack Russels or shotguns plz! this bunny has had a sh1t time of late lol.....Voodoo....
