Title: Poppies Post by: Manky Monkey on June 24, 2011, 10:20:51 PM Photographed on the way to Loony's workshop, just outside Basingstoke, Hampshire.
Traditional red poppies, growing wild in front of a field of cultivated white poppies. If I remember right, the white ones are grown to produce a cooking oil from their seeds. Title: Re: Poppies Post by: Manky Monkey on June 24, 2011, 10:21:37 PM .

Anyone know what to do to collect/keep the seed so I can get them going somewhere else? They`re Ca;ifornia Poppies you`ve got there. We`ve got Sh**loads of em in our garden. We tried to give some to my mother in law, seeds and cuttings and they all died. We don`t have to do anything at all with `em. Try lifting a few by the roots you might be successful as they grow on your land anyway. Title: Re: Poppies Post by: Manky Monkey on June 29, 2011, 08:20:57 PM Taz has a paper bag full of mixed poppy seeds in the greenhouse, including some of the white ones from the field in my photo. No guarantee they'll grow, but I'm sure she could spare a few if you want to give 'em a go.
Title: Re: Poppies Post by: Cabman77 on June 29, 2011, 08:23:45 PM I seriously thought the white ones are grown for pharmaceutical companies, I`m almost certain I`m right, sure they used to deliver them to Pfizer at Sandwich in Kent.
