Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 22, 2011, 08:54:04 AM nice looker very retro Kinda depends if you grew up with them (so remember the real ones) or not, only reason I say that is when you stand next to one, they're pretty big, and not 'light' (relativly)... not like the originals that you'd actually think about taking off road. To me, this is more retro (and if its possible 'more Triumph', than the Street Scrambler) http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=8722.0 Title: Re: is this standard Post by: zakboy on June 22, 2011, 09:03:54 AM saw what appeared to be exactly the same model even the same color, when i took the trike for mot it had just been mot and i think the thing that struck me about it was the position of the silences then when the guy fired it up sounded superb, what i would give to have that kind of sound
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 22, 2011, 02:15:36 PM The original - This is what the late 60's were giving us, the Triumph TR6C, and they sound luverleee :D
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 22, 2011, 02:21:09 PM and another one, this time in purest greeeeen....
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 22, 2011, 02:29:23 PM BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) had a similar streetbike from the same era called the Firebird.
The TR6C and Firebird are both 650cc twins. 650 was basically the biggest size machine available for the man-in-the -street. (The days of 750s didn't arrive until the very late part of the 60s with Honda's CB750 four, and 1000c motors for Joe Public remained a dream well into the 70's) If you had the money, there were Vincents V twins, JAP V twins, and Ariel had the Square Four, Vincent and Ariel were both of 1000cc. Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 22, 2011, 02:44:19 PM and this is BSA's competition version, the Hornet. Note the complete lack of silencers. :D
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Manky Monkey on June 22, 2011, 04:00:08 PM Presumably the customer fitment is the crate it came straight from?
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: kevsky on June 22, 2011, 08:22:29 PM remember seeing piccies of a bsa 350 baracuda trials type thing built for the yankee market in the 70s awesome looking machine

Title: Re: is this standard Post by: nabsim on June 24, 2011, 02:59:20 PM Is my memory failing me again or did Triumph do one like the first pics that was called a Hurricane for the USA market back in the 70's?
Title: Re: is this standard Post by: Tony oily bike on June 24, 2011, 04:16:00 PM Is my memory failing me again or did Triumph do one like the first pics that was called a Hurricane for the USA market back in the 70's? Your memory is working just fine......... yep, the X75 Hurricane. Badged as a Triumph Hurricane, it's engine was basically a BSA Rocket III engine (750cc, the original), with Craig Vetter styling, with those iconic pipes and tank n seat unit. Worth a mint nowadays.... sigh...... 8) (and this was my 750th post on MMM................) |
