Title: Refurbishing Vinyl seats
Post by: nabsim on May 24, 2011, 01:03:17 PM
Can anyone recommend anything we can buy in the UK that will refurbish vinyl bike seats? I have found stuff used in USA but not over here. I am thinking of the trike seat and backrest, backrest has the outer 'skin' peeled in a couple of places but generally it all just needs somehing to seal and bring back to black again.

I do know recovering will most likely be a better option but there isn't anyone close who does this I don't think and I want a go at refurbing it.

hi nabsim if you do end up having to have it recovered there is a guy on ebay who sells fantastic seat covers mainly for old British bikes i emailed him a couple of years ago on ebay in the off chance that he may of benable to cover two trike seats on my gs and yes he was happy to oblige he did a fantastic job you can have any color and fabric he even put the name zak in the back of the back rest i had mine done in black with red pipping, hes in the cannock area, you can post your seats to him and he posts back, or you can deliver them and pick them up the only draw back it took him a bit longer to get them done than he had said it would it should of been two wheeks but i waited a month but when i picked them up it was worth the wait first class job but cost me £100 but worth it also.zak

Lol Cabman, I had got that bit but I also found an article on the net for repainting bike seats. They used 3 different components, one of which was the paint. From what it said you need to do more prep and the paint is the last bit if you want it to stay on and keep the colour.

They aren't standard seats Zac so buying a cover wouldn't be an option, it would have to go to be covered if I go that way.

Cheers Rob, I was hoping there was either someone who did valeting on here or had actually done the job and it lasted ;)

Hey Zakboy, love the trike. Did you make the rear section or buy it. I seem to recall seeing something like that on Evilbay. Was it easy to fit?
Regards
K
