Title: Re: autojumble
Post by: spanners on May 23, 2011, 07:24:15 PM
because its only a ,spot , or searc light and not legal to be used as a general driving type lamp
at one time you were supposed to have them covered so that you couldnt accidentally dazzle /use them on some one

"Big blackish greyish thing" never really caught on as a product name, so they called it an Impala instead.
"Appleton" spotlights are a popular hotrod accessory, especially on 50s/60s "Led Sled" style Kustoms, (yeah, spelt with a K). Presumably because they were used on Police patrol cars at the time.

Now one of my claims to fame (?) was serving Lonnie Donegan at the Blue Post Cafe near Hinkley when my old chap briefy owned it, was only about 10 or so. Lonnie pulled up in what I have always believed was an Impala but it had two chrome things stuck on the roof at the front, a bit like trumpets but at the same time nowt like a trumpet. Bet some of you will know what I am on about and if so can you let me know please? :)

Was it an Impala?

Oh yeah, for those interested, Lonnie had beans on toast and a mug of tea and gave me a two bob tip :)

There are 2 drag racing Fiat 126s that sometimes race with revolving keys in them. Taz Racing.
I consulted with Mr Lunatic at the workshop today & you are indeed right chaps -tis a Rivierra.
As the man in the orthopedic shoes said, I stand corrected.

when I was a nipper my old man always had bikes and combos then he passed his test in a four wheeler and bought a scrappy old anglia van no back seats just cushions didn't last very long and cost him a mint in repairs so it got scrapped then he bought a bedford van again no rear seats just them cushions that didn't last long ,then one day he came home with the estate version of one of these and on the first day I got to sit in the front seat (covered in red leather ) you could smell the leather then I looked back and thought this is as big as my bedroom  totally amazed by the size of it

I really, really want a Farina estate ( Farnham ? ) as a tow car for the dragster, however, that would mean rebuilding that first so maybe not a necessity at the moment
