Title: Help and sugestions?????? Post by: Simple Simon on March 29, 2011, 05:01:49 PM Hi guys. ;D
I'm slowly (read as v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.very slowly ::)) getting my workshop sorted and need to move my parts washer over from my parents. Problem is whilst draining it, I came across a bit of a problem. Once you take out the drain plug you have no control over the flow of the fluid. I have managed to drain the 35ltr of fluid without too much mess, but my new workshop has a wooden floor (not concrete) so I would prefer to solve this little problem before filling up the washer again. I thought that I could replace the drain plug with something that has a tap on it, and that can be connected to a hose (sort of like at the bottom of some radiators). I tried the plummers merchants but they could not match the thread :'( So I tried the motor factors. They matched the thread to a 14mm sump plug for a ford, but don't have anything with a hole through :'( So, my thinking is a piece of hex bar, drilled through, machined and tapped each end leaving me with a 14mm thread one end and a suitable plumbers thread on the other. Would this work? if it would is there anyone that could help me make this part up? And how much would it cost? Many thanks in advance for all your help. ;D Title: Re: Help and sugestions?????? Post by: RODeo on March 29, 2011, 05:24:38 PM Ford sump plug ,use elec drill to bore hole in centre. Braze/weld/solder a stub of pipe in hole. A piece of flexy pipe over the stub, jubilee clipped on. Block off the flexy pipe other end with a bolt and jubilee clip to hold it in.
