Title: People piccies & stuff.
Post by: Manky Monkey on July 06, 2006, 02:26:08 PM
Yodie's been adding some faces to the People Piccies page on the main site this afternoon, taken from recent show photo galleries. You may have to click on "refresh" to update the page.
I've fallen behind with the show reports lately but will be adding more soon. We've borrowed excerpts of Holmesy's Billing funrun report from ukhotrods.co.uk so that'll be up as soon as Yodie gets time to sort it out. Also got to do something about making propshafts & will do a piece on axle narrowing as soon as I get a chance. With luck there should be a couple of video clips of drag race burnout action courtesy of John from the Black Pig crew, though these'll have to be kept short cos they take up so much space on the site. Leon sent in some shots of cars that he's been photoshopping, plus of course, the long awaited Merchandise page is almost sorted now. Janie's just bought me a couple of DVDs on Ebay so reviews of California Kid, Two Lane Blacktop & Hotrod soon too.
Anyone want to send us a write up on their ride or a show report? All contributions most welcome.  :)

How about adding a film review page.  There's so much rubbish on telly nowadays, it would be nice to hear someone elses comments on a film, so we know what movie to pick when we go to watch one/hire one?

Erm, it's already there on the Homepage, but only one contribution so far. What would you like to write for us?! I'll be doing a couple soon -The Californian Kid, Two Lane Blacktop, Hotrod, American Grafitti etc, but got to watch the films again first!

Did you know that the black Chevvy that appeared in Two Lane Blacktop also appeared in American Graffiti? I've got a copy of HotRod...might be the same one, all about the saxaphone-playing  guy with the Willys trying to beat the "Munns Rootbeer" team.
Have you seen Bikini Beach? Got footage of Tommy Ivo's 4-engined 4-wheel drive car burning all four tyres for the full quarter. Got that too.

Good grief!
No, didn't know it was the same Chevy. So which film came first then? I know it wasn't the real car that was rolled & burnt out at the end of Graffiti.
Got to thank Janie_Postie for finding me a couple of DVDs on Ebay. Got Blacktop, California Kid & Hotrod now, plus American Graffiti 2, which I have to say, was a big disappointment after the first film. Only watched the first quarter of an hour so far, showing Milner as a professional drag racer & Toad serving in 'Nam, but it hasn't got the same impact at all. Apparently Harrison Ford's got a cameo role in it but don't know what he's driving! I'll persevere though & post some reviews as soon as Yodie's got the time to get them onsite for me.

I'm pretty sure Two Lane came first, and it got rolled in that too.

Worst Car Film ever made has to be Death Race 2000.

Don't think I've ever actually watched Two Lane, just various clips of it. Same with deathrace. Never even seen clips, just heard about it from other people. There's a lifetime's supply of motor flms out there to review isn't there!
Fastest Indian came out on DVD this week. Now that is a bloody good film. I'd thoroughly recommend watching that one.

Never heard of that one! Another to add to the list of reviews to write then.

Then try "Gladiators of the year 2000". A gang of vicious futuristic bikers riding Jawas with fairings made of Baco-Foil. Italian, I think, and really badly dubbed in.

All jawas were baco-foil based weren't they? Dave_Postie's got one sat in his back garden, complete with righthand sidecar. Maybe we should build a Gladiators replica. Or maybe not.
Saw this tucked away in a corner at the Dr B's show this weekend. Couldn't decide why he'd gone to the trouble of fitting a clear perspex cover on the gearbox -maybe it was just because he could.
