Title: Follow the instant brick road
Post by: Manky Monkey on February 18, 2011, 06:32:39 PM
How about this for ingenuity.
A brick paving machine.
Tiger-Stone is a Dutch paver laying machine that can produce brick roads.
Paving bricks are dropped by front-end-loader onto the angled trough.
Workers help to spread them in the trough as they drop into the forming jig.
As the electrically operated crawler moves forward along a pre laid sand base layer, all the stones are packed, gravity held together & descend the sloping ramp on to the road.
Amazing ain't it.

I wonder how much they'd charge to do my patio?

Neat bit of kit, kinda reminds me of an episode of Thunderbirds where the machine drives through the forrest leaving a tarmac painted road in it's wake.

If they were to use this in posh ol' Surrey, it would have to modified so it could automatically put in loads of potholes and manhole covers (esp on the riding lines in bends!!) otherwise it simply wouldn't blend in with what we already have.  :-\ and we couldn't have that could we!!
