Title: STEViE Update
Post by: yoda on June 24, 2006, 07:26:57 PM
Arrived and settled in, at Kaunas after a very very wet journey.
Yesterday was wet cobbles, serious six inch deep floods, missin roads an folks walkin across the motorway - an that was even before we left Riga.
We then rode through torrential rain, the like i ain't seen before, Once again on two way roads whilst one suicidal, Idiot, Lorry driver tried and just succeeded to get past us and the three trucks in front of us.
Got really cold due to waterproofs leakin'. A really hard ride, but hey we're here now until Sunday, Then its on to Poland.

that was Yesterday though and ive just woken up after a good evening eatin' and drikin' and having slept the sleep of the sleepy people, to what looks like its gonna be a beautiful day,
later folks, have a good weekend

Ah yes, STEViE, the well known mandolin playing grammatical error.
I believe Lithuania was mentioned & possibly spelt differently; & a 650 Suzuki I think.
Why not read this old thread & all will be revealed.  ;D

Really enjoyed reading that link. Earlier this year I got a 'phone call from my mate in Malaysia, telling me about a really good bike show in Thailand. Didn't jump on the bike, but did hop on a 'plane, and met him at the show. Damned good party! Met some sound party animals. Here's one of them, Dracula, the most drunk Asian I ever met.

How the hell does he get that on the centre stand!  :o

Are they real studs in the back of his hand, or just trinkets hanging from his bracelet?

He spends millions building his dream bike & all you're interested in is his bracelet?!
Never occurred to me that Malaysia had a custom bike scene. Very impressive.

The bracelet........I'm about to start bringing a few over. In Thailand, they eat snakes. Attanazs gets the remains, spends hours de-gristling them, drills them out, and makes snake-skeleton necklaces and bracelets. I have some myself, and I'll photograph them later. Aint cheap. He also does Shark-teeth ear-rings. But at the moment there are only three of these necklaces in this country.
Anyone interested?

Stevie's got one of those. No idea where he got it from, but he was wearing it at last year's 3Bs rally.

Ive seen a stand that has attended the last few rallies that ive attended in the SE of UK with those necklaces.......about £60 i seem to recall. Not sure if they are resin, probably are if there is that much work?

Atan's are the real thing. I'll be getting some sent over. Shouldn't cost more than £20.

Hiya. Well that was one helluva trip. Around 3,150 miles for me an' a load more for Peter who hails from Glasgow.

We set out on 16/6 from Harwich via a ferry to Esbjerg in Denmark arrivin' around lunchtime the next day. From there we rode across Denmark thru some really heavy rain at one point an' thru Sweden, where the weather improved up to our first nights camp at Jonkopping by Lake Vattern.
The next day we went on to Stockholm where we took a ferry across to Tallinn in Estonia. We had a couple of fantastic days there before movin' on to Otepaa in the south of the country where we stayed on a campsite aimed at bikers. We stayed in a wooden hut for £2 each an' had dinner an' a beer for anutha £2 each, we had a few more on top of that but not too many as the next day we were off to Riga in Latvia.
Both the road to Riga an' Riga itself were hot, damned hot. But not for long, the heat gave way to an' impressive downpour that lasted thru the night into the next day as we were travellin' to Kaunas in Lithuania to meet up with the Roadhogs, a bike club that we had arranged to stay with over the weekend. We had a fantastic time with them before movin' on into Poland, spendin' three days travellin' across the country visitin' Glizycko, Hel an' Szczecin for our campin'. Again we had some rain on the way to Hel, an' whilst travellin' there we went thru Gdansk - All I want to say about that is G'day Gdansk an' G'bye. TRAFFIC !!!!
After Szczecin we headed over the border into Germany an' travelled along the A2 to Hannover then turned south on the A7 before turnin' off onto the road to Uslar an' Villa Loewenherz, a biker hotel where we stayed for a couple of nights before finishin' our trip by attending my bike clubs German party in Lingen for three days. As I said, a journey I will not forget in a hurry.

I'll eventually post a better account of the journey an' stick up some photos but that may take a while an' I wanted to get this much on here before Manky Monkey collars me in the street for not gettin' somethin' on here for you to read.

By the way andy, I wore a Manky Monkey Motors t-shirt for a fair part of the trip. By the time we got to Kaunas it was a VERY manky Manky Monkey Motors t-shirt.

An' as to the necklace, yes I have one, I think it's great, bloody sharp sometimes tho but I'm gonna stop wearin' mine if every other ****** is gonna have one too   >:( :D

Hi, Stevie, just spoke to Atan, and he's out of stock, as his mates haven't been that hungry lately. He files his smooth.

Hiya Stevie.
Glad you made it safely back. That was a hell of a rideout wasn't it. Pretty impressive on an old GS. Furthest I've ever been on a bike was to Cologne & back in a weekend on my ol' 650 Bonny when I was about 18. Would love to take the trike abroad next year. Well if you can do it, why not! Welll done matey.
Hey, got any photos of our shirt in foreign climes? Maybe we should start a forum competition for furthest travelled shirt or strangest place to wear one -or perhaps not.  :o

As I told you last nite andy I wore the MMM t-shirt whilst I was ridin'. It had gotten so sweaty on the first day that I just took it off in the evenin' an' let it dry. Next day it was fine, couldn't see the point in stinkin' up anutha shirt. Did that for a few days an' the damn thing nearly climbed into the washin' machine in Kaunas without any help from me  ;D

Peter may have captured the shirt on camera but I'm sure I havn't got any photos of it, sorry mate. Just take my word for it ....  it's been to Hel an' back   ;D

Good to have you back Stevie. Well, the shirts have been well & truly road tested anyway! I see there's a shot of you playing at the Welsh National in the new issue of BSH. Looks like you're wearing the black button up MMMotors shirt but the piccie's been cropped down so much you can't see the logo -damn!
