Title: New Morgan 3 wheelers Post by: Tony oily bike on December 07, 2010, 01:37:52 PM Put on the brogues and deerstalker, looks like those chaps from Malvern are going even more retro than usual, as the 3 wheeler is apparently being resurrected for launch in 2011.
The half tonne Morgan three-wheeler will be called the Super Sports and will be powered by a 1.8-litre Harley-Davidson 45-degree V-twin motorcycle engine coupled to a Mazda five-speed transmission, mmm not quite as British as I might have thought - maybe they should fit a (JAP 'copy') Cameron Racing Engine ;D ;D There are no prices yet, but Morgan is striving to deliver the first cars at about £25,000 plus VAT (which will be at 20%, so just another £5000 then out of the piggy bank …… straight to the government). There’s a fellow in the USofA making a three wheeler called The Ace, under licence from Morgan according to the website, which looks almost spiffing!! (I say almost, in my book it really needs is the JAP motor to set it off) http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/sales/three_wheeler/three_wheeler.html http://cycle-car.com/index.htm http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8108510/Morgan-Super-Sports-three-wheeler.html http://www.cameronracingengines.com/ Title: Re: New Morgan 3 wheelers Post by: BikerGran on December 07, 2010, 05:52:50 PM Looks lovely - the idea of the HD engine would put me off a bit, if there's no JAP engines they could have used a Jap one!
Slightly academic as I'm not likely to have a sun like that unless I win the lottery.... Title: Re: New Morgan 3 wheelers Post by: Tony oily bike on December 07, 2010, 06:44:07 PM There have been two UK companies that have made Morgan-esque 3 wheelers, Triking and the less expensive JZR.
They crop up for sale every now and then, and prices depend on build quality , engine etc (but way way cheaper than the real thing). Personally, I reckon the round-fin guzzi fits the bill pretty well. http://www.triking.co.uk/gallery.php http://www.triking.co.uk/gallery.php http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/pictures/262/JZR+Restoration_JZR Title: Re: New Morgan 3 wheelers Post by: BikerGran on December 07, 2010, 08:06:47 PM Yep, those would do it for me!
