Title: Rochdale kit car
Post by: afghanman on November 04, 2010, 08:26:33 AM
This drew up close to me at st Malo docks, I was on my way back to England for a week( death in the family) The chap had bought it on ebay, and was taking it back to Blighty to restore , he had one when he was young and wanted a little project.
B series engine. I thought it was quite cool!

Reminds me of early Porsches. And Alvises.

I think it looks a bit like an early and mini sized Jenson.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, as a youth I had one of these.  A superb piece of kit and if somehow Rochdale Motors could have remained alive to continue it's developement it would surely be up there with the very best.

Fibreglass monocoque construction was very strong (similar to Lotus Elite) and would outlive us all.  Later models moved to Ford engines but a well set-up B series took some beating in my opinion.  Smaller than a Porche of the day but handling, reliabilty and cost was much better.
