Title: Red sky at night.
Post by: Manky Monkey on June 19, 2006, 09:47:09 PM
The fool on the hill,
sees the sun going down,
and the World spinning round.

Emailed to me by my brother Steve. The view from his Wiltshire workshop.
Yes, of course I'm jealous!  >:(

That pic of the sunset just remnded me of one of those off the wall accidental events that happened about 10 years back. Went to Cornwall for a fortnight with the woman that was going clean me out 5 years later (Not bitter honest) ;D Heard the sound of a harley going past and then noticed many other vehicles going past. Bit odd this as I was in Porthcurno. Home of the transatlantic telegraph cable and a beautiful white sand beach. It's also a dead end. Wandered up the hill a came across the wonderful Minack Theatre. I Sat that night and watched a play about American independence by George Bernard Shaw. The Play was fantatsic but the View was summit else!!!!!!

I've never heard of that but I'd love to visit. That'd make a great backdrop for a photoshoot! Is that a modern construction or some ancient relic?
Somewhere to add to the Favouite Places to Visit bit maybe.

It's amazing. Was I believe started in the 1920's by a woman that owned the house at the site. She and some friends put on a play each summer just for fun but it became so popular that she spent years with a friend cutting and shaping the cliff  (and adding concrete) till they ended up this. I think is was mainly the work of two people but now all the Major theatre companies beg to put on shows. It has a very limited seasons as looks out over the Atlantic ocean. But it is truly awe inspiring and well worth a visit. ;D ;D ;D

And a fabulous view if you don't like the play!

Count me in but give me a year or so to get some transport on the road!
Seriously, wouldn't mind a quick description & a couple of piccies for the Places to Visit section if you fancy writing something. Used to enjoy BSH's Landmarks list. Some fascinating places tucked away around this isle if you know where to look.

Yup. Seriously, I'd like to go. My trike's been off the road over a year now & I'd love to be out, putting some miles on it.
A bit of a backlog of stuff to be posted on the site -somebody teach me how to do this stuff please! Yodie works very hard but he's running half a dozen sites, plus reporting for BSH almost every weekend, plus starting up a business with his good lady wife, plus just generally having a life, & I hate having to keep bugging him to post stuff for me. Yes please, a write up would be great. It might be a couple of weeks before it appears, but I promise everything contributed will be used.  ;D

I'm fairly computer literate so if I can help let me know. What I don't know I can normaly work out pretty quick and with a few pointers from the green one may be able to assist in getting you up to speed,

I spent years deliberately avoiding computers cos they just didn't interest me so now I've got 20 years worth to catch up on!
Creating a link for the Links page, creating a web page using tables in DreamWeaver, adding photos to the pages, linking to larger images so that when you click on a photo in a vehicle write up it takes you to a larger version of it, photoshopping banner logos for the pages, posting the lot on the site using CUTE FTP. All that & more. What I need is a printed click by click guide to each job on the site so I can refer to it each time until it finally sinks in. I'd love to recieve contributions & be able to post them the same day.
As I've said somewhere else on here, not trying to grab Yodie's much deserved laurels, just want to be able to run my own site.  :P

Most of what I know (which is not a lot!) came from books called "Idiots Guide to........"

They don't just tell you what to do, but HOW to do it!

After your red sky at night, here's a red morning.... view from my garden - and what it looked like just a few minutes later.

That's purdy Bobbi. One of the few pleasures of my job is I get to see the morning before you lot get up & mess it up!  ;D
