Ok, not quite the size of the ones found on the islands in Indonesia, but these little chaps and or chapesses live at the bottom of my garden.
The common or smooth Newt.

No i didnt kill it, if disturbed they play possum and pretend to be dead.

Ive not seen any of those since I was a horrid child..we used to go catch them and salamanders and take them home and stick them in an old tin bath we turned into a little home for them....Voodoo......

found one of these on the farm one morning looked dried out but one toe was moving. Put some water in a bucket and put it in and it started to come round. went off for a cuppa and the bloody cat had the bucket over and ate it. ??? ??? ??? ???

Taz & I sat out in the garden a couple of hours ago watching Harry the hedgehog & Dave the mouse feeding -we put out food for the hedgepigs & Dave drops in for a nibble too. While we were there, a fox set off the security lights at the far end of the garden. A recent regular visitor. 

I had to rescue a slow-worm from one of my cats the other day.

Miaow Miaow, the local cat, (that's what he answered when we asked him his name), completely ignores all the birds in our garden -& they've learnt to ignore him. He can stroll through the middle of them all & they don't even flinch. Maybe that's a sneaky long term strategy to lure them into his reach, I don't know. He goes crazy over anything 4 legged though. Now the baby bunnies are about he's chased several round & round the garden. His owner says he comes home to find headless bunnies left in the bath for him. Nice.
The fox eats the pheasants. Catches them unawares while they're roosting at night. The remains of several have been found in the mornings -just a pile of feathers & a pair of feet. At least he's eating them & not just playing with them. Not sure who I'd rather see though -the pheasants who come to feed in our garden & are real characters, or the fox who we've spotted several times at the far end of the garden & is nice to see cos he's not been seen here before.

used to have a monster cat called Spooky that used to drag big buck rabbits in through the catflap at night. If they were still putting up a fight it sounded like world war three in the kitchen, but if they were dead you`d put a foot out of the bed in the morning and splat, straight into the open guts of a half eaten rabbit  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

When we had cats they would do just that but with mice and frogs. Left mum very un amused some mornings.  ;D

I remember a discvussion with another cat owner about what was the worst thing to put your bare foot in when getting out of bed - cat sick or mouse innards?

Up at longbridge mill, I dragged Marcus to a car meet and there was a cold blooded killer cat. He had about 3 mice in 5 minutes and he was such a viscious nasty killer he rolled over and had a belly rub and everything

The newt in the third pic looks as if he/she has had a few. Is this where the saying nissed as a pewt comes from then?

The other evening we sat in the lounge with the patio doors open . Instrolls a lovely ginger cat(which Ive named Tom Sidney,for some reason)we've never seen him before and we have no near neighbours. Bold as brass he stands there while my daughter fed it some ham. He had a stroll in and out a couple of times. Eventually when we shut the doors he was pawing at the glass to get back in! My daughter looked up the postcode that was on his collar,and he comes from about 1/2 mile away.Havent seen him since!
