Postie_Dave contacted us last week, looking for non inertia seat belts, as fitted to some Reliants. Have you got any? Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 14, 2010, 08:24:15 PM Hi sorry no seatbelts in the car.
Will have to sort out a resizer for pics, just tried to add more ,but to big. Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: Manky Monkey on May 14, 2010, 09:04:24 PM We use Photoshop, but there are others. Or host them somewhere else, like Photobucket, & add the link to your post.
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: voodoo on May 14, 2010, 09:52:40 PM Ive got the old front end off the reliant trike I got last year...I scrapped the frame as it was easier to get a new frame than me muck about....As I said front half is here if you want it...only real use would be to use it as a rough guide to build your own front cradle....Its as rough as it gets as it was just welded to a relaint rear chassis ......Voodoo...
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 20, 2010, 02:34:33 PM Thanks for the offer, but there is no way i'm even going to attempt putting a bike front on,don't have the tools.nohow or skills required,so will use the whole chassis & make a 3 wheeled trike, based completely on the full chassis.
At the moment all the suspension, axle is off,few bits to come off front end then ready for cleaning & spraying, then i'll think about the design. Still can't get pics on tried one of the resizers recomended but didn't seem to want to work for me. Will keep trying. Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: Cabman77 on May 20, 2010, 03:12:42 PM you can still fit handlebars on using the reliant steering box and arm. Chalky white did it all the time and his trikes were always quite easy to steer. Someone somewhere must have a Chalky White trike with this set up for you to look at. I know it involved drilling through the steering arm on the box and fitting another steering rod up to a bearing mounted plate with the handlebars. I`ll have a word around our club to see if we`ve got any pics of this.
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 20, 2010, 03:20:42 PM Brilliant, cheers.

Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: Cabman77 on May 22, 2010, 03:44:48 PM spoke to a couple of people in my club last night and was told that you have to move the steering box inwards, weld a plate on etc then a hole is drilled in the steering arm about an inch or so up from the steering rod (has to be close to to rod or else steering gets heavy) then on a sub frame fitted just in front of central driving position a plate and bearing assembly (I know Chalky used to use wheelhubs for this for ease building) with handlebars fitted, new steering rod is fitted from this plate to the new hole in the steering arm with rose joints on each end. T make all this happen you need to bend some heavy tubing to weld to the chassis to mount the top of suspension leg so you can then cut away the section that kicks up at the front. I know this may be clear as mud but I hope it helps. Cab`t find any pics to show all this I`m afraid.
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 24, 2010, 12:36:23 PM Cheers, thats as clear as mud hehe.
Chassis now completely bare ready to clean & spray, front suspension all cleaned new bushes to be fitted. Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 26, 2010, 06:37:14 PM bit more done, primed & sprayed, all i have to do now is design something.
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on May 29, 2010, 09:12:17 AM Right i have my beer barrel,so am i right in thinking i need 3 holes,1 for putting fuel in/2 one for feeding the engine/3 one vent/breather,is this assumption correct, any comments/advice welcome.George.
Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: trikerpete on May 29, 2010, 10:28:16 AM that seems about right george. but make sure the filler leakproof as its part of mot now, would also advise it to be lockable. good luck with build.

Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: gtchippy on June 09, 2010, 07:33:40 PM Back to front, never mind.
Well made some progress, stated at the rear,as that seems to be the easiest, new brake pistons, new brake pipe, new shocks & bushes, back seat nearly done, have given myself 2 options on final position,at the back with tiny luggage space,or further forward more luggage space, but less leg room. Got myself a welder, cheaper than keep paying my friendly garage. Started to think about the front end,but not sure yet, having fun though Title: Re: Naked robin Post by: thebigdogsix on June 21, 2011, 04:36:07 AM http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Reliant-robin-trike-beach-buggy-unfinished-project-1977-/270764539843?_trksid=p5197.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D170656932714%252B130534680105%252B260800182206%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D794682295703646860#ht_863wt_936
