Sunday 27th June 2010 - Beaulieu Motorcycle Muster Ride-In Day

Chevy Rick and I went to an event last year at Beaulieu called  Beaulieu Biker Friendly Day (http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/Photos/beaulieubikeday9.8.09/words.html) which was free entry as long as you pre-registered.  According to Beaulieu they are not having the event again this year but are having the Motorcycle Muster instead (not free).

JJ and I cruised into Beaulieu today for the Motorcycle Muster.  There were many more bikes there than we expected but perhaps the good weather and the promise of footie later meant everyone got there early.

The stalls were mainly of the helmet and jacket type - would have liked to have seen more bike jumble but there was only one stall selling jumbly.  A couple of stalls were selling accessories but quite limited really.  There was not a lot to see in the parking area - anything of interest had already been photographed at recent events.

The arena entertainment was the same old stunt bike rider that has done the rounds for a number of years.  I feel a little imagination was needed to have made this event more interesting.

The bikes and trikes were just parked up in any old fashion with very little room left between them to aid the photographer.  It also meant you couldn't easily find the type of bike that you wanted to look at.  JJ was parked next to a crutch rocket and a Burgman scooter!

I feel this event is even further down the ladder in success than the previous Motorcycle World held a few years ago.  Indeed, even last year's free ride in had the extra enjoyment of the Graham Walker Rally which meant there were many vintage and classic bikes on show.

JJ was chosen as a film star and will be appearing on Latin American TV in November.  God help them.   ::)  It was the same team who recorded the Beaulieu Hot Rod event last weekend.  Alfie and I got in on the act too so you never know, we might be too good for this site soon.  ;D

Yesterday on Poole Quay I was talking to someone about this event.  Call me cycnical if you like but I reckon Beaulieu are trying to resurrect the Motorcycle World event which they ruined through their own greed.  When it started, the event was mainly bike club stands, we got a load of free tickets to bring our bikes in and show them, this of course attracted the manufacturers and many other interesting stands.  But as the event got bigger and more succesful, they decided they didn't need the clubs any more and pushed them out to a field right away from the rest of the event, and only gave each club about 8 tickets.  So many of the club members got pissed off and didn't bother going, which in turn pissed off the big stands who didn't bother going, and the event just died.  Doesn't sound like they're doing much to change that.....
