Title: Re: mig welder Post by: Manky Monkey on January 31, 2010, 09:06:40 AM I'm still using a set of gauges that Brock gave me as a birthday present years ago.
I rent a bottle of Argonshield from the local BOC dealer, (Hampshire Bolt & Tool in Basingstoke, Hants). The account's actually in Flap's name so he gets the bill for the annual bottle rental & I pay him the cash. About 70 quid a year I think, plus about 50 to refill it, (they swap the empty for a full one). It's an X size bottle, which stands something like 4 feet tall & maybe 8 or 10 inches diameter. Obviously it depends how much welding I'm doing, but for general welding on brackets here & there & stuff, I probably change it twice a year. Title: Re: mig welder Post by: gpz on January 31, 2010, 11:18:53 AM dont know where abouts in the country u are but there is usually a stall selling welding equipment at rufforth auto jumble near york bottle's of co2 ithink were about 40 quid and if u have a bottle to return 25 this was early last year or often there is chance at the newark auto jumble on next sunday the 7th
Title: Re: mig welder Post by: tbone on February 01, 2010, 02:36:44 PM Like Mr M, i too have a BOC contract. I have a size Y bottle and use Argoshield Universal. Costs £41 for a refill plus £13 handling so i`m paying £54.
Are you sure you use an X Andy? Title: Re: mig welder Post by: Manky Monkey on February 01, 2010, 08:43:06 PM Yeah, but it's a while since I refilled it, so could well be wrong on the prices.
Memory span of a goldfish me. :P Title: Re: mig welder Post by: Clive on February 01, 2010, 09:30:03 PM Finally getting to feel better, so went off to college and achieved this!!!!!!

Title: Re: mig welder Post by: Manky Monkey on February 01, 2010, 10:00:29 PM You'll be building frames before you know it! How's the course going? Enjoying it? Many other builders there? Most of the guys on the course I did were there to learn so they could restore old cars. There was also a woman who wanted to try metal sculpture.
Title: Re: mig welder Post by: Clive on February 01, 2010, 10:25:44 PM Course is good, if a little slow-paced!!
Me, a couple of car buffs, and the rest are agricultural repair-y types, paid for by Hants County Council! Clive Title: Re: mig welder Post by: hunter on February 02, 2010, 11:29:35 PM Got one picking it up tomorrow, butters 1800.
