Ok so mk4 fits the carrier and a v5 rear caliper uses a 256mm veted disc (22mm thick max and 20 mm min) we are saying that a nova front disc in the Mankey conversion works which is 236mm diameter( and there are 2 thickness of 10mm or 12.8mm and people have had issues getting the correct one to work with the golf gti rear caliper according to some threads)

so my question is has anyone used the mk4 rear caliper with a front nova gte vented disc which is 20mm max? ie the same diameter as the solid disc but suitable for the v5 caliper's thickness

I know that this would not be needed for braking performance but by god would that look that the dogs twitchy thing if you had rear calipers with crossdrilled vented discs or I am being silly

any thoughts problems anyone can see

Donut

I manage to lock the back end up quite sufficently with the standard drum brakes but would look good.

In the interests of shared knowledge Mr Donut, give it a go & post a piccie.  :)
When I did my first conversion I just used what was to hand at the time. I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives that'll work just as well, if not better. As Doc says, a good set of standard drums will do the job, so it really is just down to looks. I just think discs look tidier & sportier. If we can compile a list of calipers, carriers & discs that'll hang together we'll post it in the Motors, 3 wheels section of the main site.
