Title: wrenchmonkees
Post by: hornet6 on November 21, 2009, 10:40:11 PM
Hi u lot out there. Ya might know this site but i will just give ya the web addy for it. www.wrenchmonkees.com   this is a site for rough n ready cafe racer styled bikes. All makes n sizes.I was kicking myself when i went on the gallery. I used to own a yam xs 500.....i sold it about 5 years ago cuz the mot was up and the electrics was crap on it. It was basically a cheap hack just for getting to work n back.
After about a year of commuting it started to play up and i couldnt sort out the electrics on it,so it was shoved in the corner of the garage, and stayed there for another 12 months, maybe longer. Then i bought the honda hornet ,which is as reliable as any modern jap bike,so the poor old yam still stayed in the corner gathering dust.I got fed up of seeing it there so i eventually sold it for scrap. 50 quid i got for it,and it would still run for a while before it would fry the electrics.
Anyway, getting back to the point, take a look at the gallery and the xs 500. Ive started looking round now for older more interesting stuff even though i ay finished this one yet.Looks like the hornets gotta go next year so i can generate a bit of cash. Wont be a lot but everything helps. :( :(

Although it's been a bit of a trend for a while now (and the XS 650 has always been sought after) I think we'll be seeing a lot more XT500, WR650, SR400/500 etc. based customs around and the prices of said bikes will definitely go up so buy now! Although I'm a Harley fan I think it's great - anything to get away from the identikit Sportster hardtails that the world and his wife has... :o ;D I think street trackers will be the big thing next year - well, if they aren't already!

To be honest, they dont look like they,ve had a lot of work done on em,so it wouldnt be difficult to av a go at making one.Im,e sure theres gotta be someone on this site whos got some kind of old jap bike that needs all the body work taking off and re-styling it into a cafe racer. ;D ;D
