Title: Curiosity leads to "GN Jolly" Post by: Chevy Rick on September 17, 2009, 02:49:40 PM Working outside today on the Glide when I kept on hearing V Twin engines that I couldn't quite recognise the sound of. Curiosity got the better of me and when I walked to the bottom of the road, I was confronted by a convoy of GN automobiles powered by V Twin engines with clutchless gear change to a chain drive back axle (with 4 sprockets). These engines progressed from side valve exhausts with overhead inlet to others that were complete overhead valve and later ones with overhead cam. Plus one other car, by Fraser Nash, which GN eventually became.
I jumped in the car and followed them to a meeting place not far from me where I got the chance to take the following photographs. I found out this little run was called a "GN Jolly", starting at Beaulieu, taking in the local sites and finishing back at Beaulieu. Here are some links that you might find interesting (yes I know one URL is Wikipedia ::)): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GN_(car) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GN_(car)) http://www.frazernash.co.uk/ (http://www.frazernash.co.uk/) I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed my impromptu photo shoot: (http://i26.tinypic.com/23rqxk3.jpg) (http://i30.tinypic.com/2vvnygo.jpg) (http://i27.tinypic.com/2uszq1j.jpg) (http://i32.tinypic.com/3590kuv.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/2zsmcg8.jpg) (http://i25.tinypic.com/qs9kdx.jpg) (http://i26.tinypic.com/2d6nhh.jpg) (http://i26.tinypic.com/aox91.jpg) (http://i25.tinypic.com/muibl4.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/14ihbex.jpg) (http://i31.tinypic.com/2r2uby9.jpg) (http://i30.tinypic.com/72bthg.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/dqndxg.jpg) (http://i29.tinypic.com/346vp6x.jpg) (http://i27.tinypic.com/nd38l3.jpg) (http://i29.tinypic.com/2m66g6c.jpg) (http://i26.tinypic.com/xm085k.jpg) (http://i29.tinypic.com/1zdbts6.jpg) (http://i26.tinypic.com/2epq6mr.jpg) (http://i30.tinypic.com/2po2xko.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/6tpj88.jpg) (http://i31.tinypic.com/25gbi39.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/i5nhww.jpg) (http://i26.tinypic.com/2vnf4vr.jpg) (http://i31.tinypic.com/sgjpr7.jpg) (http://i32.tinypic.com/dr36vo.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/35iveva.jpg) (http://i28.tinypic.com/287zpep.jpg) (http://i25.tinypic.com/8vr8dk.jpg) (http://i32.tinypic.com/33dzfoi.jpg) Title: Re: Curiosity leads to "GN Jolly" Post by: gsxrsam on September 17, 2009, 02:56:21 PM class 8)
