Title: Fame at last!
Post by: BikerGran on February 26, 2006, 10:04:27 PM
Not me but Gertie the GT!  Or rather her gearchange....

It's the only bike/trike pictured in the report on the Autmn NABDness in MAG's magazine 'Road' - and he says it was his favourite bit of custom engineering - yay, I'm an engineer - thought I was a bodger!

BTW, got permission to post it so no copyright worries....

Thanks Wizz!

Have to say the thinking wasn't mine, I'd heard of this being done, got a couple of phots off someone on another forum, and was sent a golf club (a putter to be precise) foc by someone on yet another forum - so it's a kind of internet bodge really!

Done that film review yet?
Flap & I dropped in on Simon the other day. Another Postie & Ska Man's brother in law. His is the trike in the frame building articles in the Motors section. Haven't seen his machine for a while. He's come up with a neat idea for pedals -golf club heads. Perfect shape, polished, with ribs for extra grip, (!), & only a couple of quid each in the Winter sale at the local sports shop. I've still got to write up all the Manky trike projects yet. I'll dig out a photo of the rolling chassis we put together for him. Hang on, I'll be back in a mo.....
Found one.

What are those wheels?

And no, I haven't. It's my day off. Nrrrr.

You have days off? I thought you lived in that office -or does it just feel like that?
Front wheel is a painted SuperDream Comstar with polished rim. Forks are 900SS Ducati. Inch & a half ally slabs with stainless steering stem knocked up by Doug the Slug, slowest engineer in the World, (only joking if you're reading this Doug!). Rear wheels used to grace a Capri, which is probably why you recognise them. 5 spoke revolutions, powder coated in metallic silver with the spokes spray painted over the top in gloss black. The other pair ended up on Steve's silver Reliant which is in the Motors, 3 wheels section.

Days off are rare things and to be treasured lying on the sofa watching Columbo and discussing whether we need a breadmaker!

Actually have to confess I didn't recognise the rear wheels although I'd spotted the front was a SuperDream one.

Doug the slowest engineer in the world?? Um ... pot/kettle scenario Mister Speedy?  ;D

Just painstaking -or painfully slow, depending on which way you look at it. I'm actually quite quick, just got way too many things on the go at once so only get a little done on each at a time.
How much do breadmakers earn these days?

I'm actually quite quick

Resisting the urge to make a riposte to that...  ;)

Unusually restrained of you Wizzy! I'll set 'em up, you knock 'em down.
