Title: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Borgy on February 11, 2006, 01:26:49 AM Engine is well good and runs great.
Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Manky Monkey on February 11, 2006, 12:02:43 PM Certainly interesting Mr Borg. I've already got more projects than I can manage though. Shame to see it go to waste.

Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Borgy on February 11, 2006, 02:07:12 PM The bike behind the car is for sale
Its a Yamaha PW 50 or 80, he thinks 50 though It has a week spark, probably a duff coil, It's complete and he will let it go for £250 as is Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: wizzkitt on February 11, 2006, 03:41:08 PM Engine is well good and runs great. Ah, a Lotus Elite 501. Never particularly liked them (the engine was never blindingly quick, and the early ones had some problems - oh, and they had the same cockpit as a Lotus Talbot Sunbeam!), and they make no money at all these days, but it's sad to see any Lotus in that condition or being broken. Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Borgy on February 11, 2006, 03:51:12 PM It's an Eclate
Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: wizzkitt on February 11, 2006, 04:06:10 PM My mistake - only glanced at it, and the Eclat is just the fastback version of the Elite :) It was the Yanks' fault - the Eclat with its boot was only introduced because the Elite didn't go down very well in the US. Same engine, though. We never got into the 'new' Lotuses.
Take it it's being broken? Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Borgy on February 11, 2006, 04:29:29 PM No its a runner , needs a bit of tidying up. It's got a 2 Lt 16 valve engine with twin Delloto 45 carbs. New fuel system with 'Faccett' pump complete new ignition system. There's a new cam belt and tensioner to go on. Has had a full rebuild on the seats, new leather and everything. New headliner
Used to be a show car, under the hood is very clean and tidy But it does need the brakes looking at. Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: wizzkitt on February 11, 2006, 05:49:36 PM And, of course, the headlight vaccuum unit. ;D
Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: Borgy on February 11, 2006, 05:57:04 PM LOL probably
Title: Re: Anyone interested in this ? Post by: wizzkitt on February 11, 2006, 06:45:29 PM ;D
Just judging by the fact she's got her eyes open!! LOL. The vacuum units tended to be a weak point on the '70s cars and can be bloody expensive to mend (although not necessarily as expensive as on the Elans when it can be an indication that the chassis's knackered...) |
