My reliant 850 oil pressure at tickover seems very low when engine hot, what is normal or is this common . When engine is revved up it rises to about 35 to 40 on the old guage . Oil is new and nothing is knocking in the engine it sounds quite sweet. Is it possible that the oil pump needs replacing if so can this be done without a complete rebuild? happy christmas everyone.... ;D :) :D Title: Re: reliant oil pressure ? Personally, if everything sounds O.K, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're concerned though, try giving the guys at Michaels of Selby a ring. Reliant spares specialists & all round helpful chaps.

The pump's held by two nuts, (can't remember the spanner size). Not a lot to go wrong with them, but I've got a couple of second hand ones if you need one, (condition unknown). Post by: toad on December 23, 2008, 07:46:51 PM oil pressure with a hot motor is only around 10 psi at tickover and about 45 psi on the move so dont panic ;D you could also clean out the pressure relief valve as a piece of mind
