Title: A BIT OF INFO NEEDED Post by: bitzman5 on October 09, 2008, 08:43:02 PM HI Im building a bike type trike out of a honda ntv600 revere the info i want is. Do i mount the axel so the wheels are in line with the original or do i move the axel back wards a few inches or even futher im looking at it being a hard tail any info would be good. Title: Re: A BIT OF INFO NEEDED Post by: BikerGran on October 10, 2008, 01:44:20 AM If it's any help, my GT550 trike is very short but the wheelbase is still about 6in longer than when it was a bike, there's a limit to how short you can make it as you have to join the shaft of the bike to the driveshaft of the axle. Also it depends whether you are narrowing the axle cos it would look a bit odd to have a very short trike with a wide axle.
No idea about the effect on the handling tho. Title: Re: A BIT OF INFO NEEDED Post by: toad on October 10, 2008, 05:52:30 PM as a rule of thumb guide. when i convert a bike it,s always 8in,s longer over stock wheelbase thats centre of bike spindle to axle centre cant go wrong tried and tested and doe,nt make the proportions look stupid ;) bobbi yours is the same taken from the dimensions of my old wing trike which was the first bike trike that me and bruce built the rest is history as they say ;) ::)
