Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: tazet on August 30, 2008, 07:17:49 PM ;D Our TV is already set up for it so it doesn't matter to us as we already watch everything through the digital setting.

Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: Manky Monkey on August 31, 2008, 05:12:02 PM I've only gone back to TV since moving in with Tanya. When I lived on my own I didn't have one. We rarely get the time to sit down & watch it though.
Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: Baby Duck on August 31, 2008, 05:24:30 PM Mine broke about two years ago...couldn't afford to go and buy a new one and after a couple of weeks asked my son if we really needed a telly. He said he wasn't bothered and neither was I so we never got a new one. Had a terrible job convincing the TV licence people that I didn't have one any more. They wanted to send someone round to check.
I do now watch some of the TV progs that are recycled on bbc iplayer but I don't miss it at all. Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: kustom on August 31, 2008, 05:25:09 PM not much to watch on it
Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: Manky Monkey on August 31, 2008, 05:30:37 PM We go through phases of watching just one programme -Family Guy on BBC3 at the moment, but also like things like CSI, QI & Mock The Week.
When I got rid of my telly & asked for a refund from the licence people they didn't believe I didn't have one either. I actually had home visits from them a couple of times to check I wasn't watching. They seemed genuinely amazed that anyone could survive without the aid of a TV. Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: kustom on August 31, 2008, 05:40:01 PM you can watch all the sky programs and usa tv online for free

Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: Manky Monkey on August 31, 2008, 05:42:02 PM Yeah, the TV inspector guy asked if I had a TV card in my laptop, (I didn't). Would you still need a licence for that?

Title: Re: Digital tv Post by: BikerGran on August 31, 2008, 08:16:57 PM We had the same problem years ago when Mike moved in with me - kept on getting warning notices saying they were going to prosecute - even tho ther was a licence oin my name at my address, they kept saying they were going to prosecute him!
In the end I phoned or wrote (too long ago) and told them if they continued to harass us they would hear from my solicitor. Never heard any more. |
