Title: planning permission Post by: tbone on May 24, 2008, 06:34:48 PM I only have limited access to my back garden, down a narrow alley at the side of my house, so thought i`d have a shed/workshop in the front garden, cos i`m sick of gettin rained on when i pick up a spanner.
Turns out that `any structure` at the front of a property requires planning permission and that involves a £150 fee to the local council peeps before they say yes or no! Title: Re: planning permission Post by: tazet on May 24, 2008, 08:57:37 PM Ok put a shed in the garden at the back right next to the back door and make that the front room, then change the front room into a garage. Knock out the front window and put in french doors. Who would ever know ;D

Title: Re: planning permission Post by: texon on May 24, 2008, 11:04:59 PM build a pegode with a roof and tell the greedy government its a garden ornament
Title: Re: planning permission Post by: tbone on May 25, 2008, 04:31:46 AM I`m now thinkin of one of them `pop up` type gazebo`s. Not quite the same but at least it`ll keep my head dry.
I do begrudge the fee a little, it would cost the same if i wanted to build a huge 1st floor extension with a double garage underneath. Title: Re: planning permission Post by: Manky Monkey on May 25, 2008, 04:58:34 AM Tell 'em it's a mosque -they won't say a word against it.

Title: Re: planning permission Post by: tbone on June 07, 2008, 06:20:59 AM had my `first` response from the local council yesterday. The `site location plan` and the `block plan` are not to the correct scale, Althogh these were both downloaded from the councils own web site, and i need to provide ALL elevations and not just the 2 that i did, after all, it is a square shed, so must be impossible for them to image wot the other two sides look like!!!!!!
Title: Re: planning permission Post by: texon on June 07, 2008, 06:24:54 PM the council have always been 2 dimensional if you ask me :o

Although chatty, she declined to comment on my proposal (apparently thats the official term) and couldnt be bought with the offer of tea n biscuits ;D
