Title: The Monkey has landed. Post by: Manky Monkey on November 22, 2007, 10:36:23 PM Sorry Taz & I haven't shown our faces here much in the last couple of days, but as most of you know, I've just sold my flat in beautiful downtown Basingstoke & moved to Taz's cottage in the Surrey countryside.
Today was moving day. A bit traumatic, (they say moving's one of the most stressful things you can do in life & it's true). My first buyer pulled out on the day I signed my half of the contract. We found another buyer the same day but it's taken over 4 months to complete. During that time money's been scarily tight. We've just about scraped through but we've been down to counting pennies by the end of the week quite regularly. Taz's cottage comes rent-free with her job as head groom/stable manager on a large country estate, so now we're mortgage free, loan free, overdraft free & hopefully stress free. Not rich by any means but should certainly have a better quality of life now. I've lived in a little studio flat for over 10 years now, a quarter of my life, & leaving it was very sad. Lots of memories. Seems strange to think I'll be commuting to Basingstoke to work each day & have no home there to go to when I finish. Onwards & upwards though, or, as it was a first floor flat, onwards & downwards. My own's PC's offline for a couple of days till we can hook it up to Taz's Tiscali set up, so we're sharing hers, which means I can't upload anything new to the site till it's done. I think I've emailed everyone my new email address but if you need it, or the postal address, PM me. Title: Re: The Monkey has landed. Andy, you'll find the stress level will go down very sharply when you have those wonderful views to unwind with! When you get back from work you can go down to the bottom of the garden, gaze out at the countryside and just breathe! Title: Re: The Monkey has landed. Yeah, it's worth the 45 minute commute just to come home to the countryside. I met a deer in the lane as I walked to the car this morning. We looked at each other in the moonlight & went our seperate ways. A nice way to start the day. Hornet, check the garden clearance thread -you've already missed one forum get-together here, but there'll be as many more as people want to come along to. :) PM on it's way Pete. Post by: Plainy Janie on November 25, 2007, 06:36:08 PM Thats probably the only thing I miss about being a postie. Every morning when Dave & I used to drive to work, there was always a family of 5 deer in various places. One morning as Connie made it to the top of the hill, I slammed on the brakes as 2 of them were walking across the road. Wonderful site to see.
