Title: Tube for frame.
Post by: klogan45 on November 13, 2007, 06:19:55 PM
Hi guys, not been in for a while. A bit disillusioned with the mini trike frame. I'm sure that I can do better so its cut it all off and start again time.
What size pipe do the mankey boys use for their reliant frames? I'm thinking of 1 inch bore pipe with a 1/8 thick wall. Its about 1 1/2 inch external. It's a great fit in the pipe bender former.
Comments and advice will be gratefully accepted....................PLEASE.
Thanks Guys
K

Thanks guys

Its good stuff, but if you try tight radius bends it dimples the metal.
Glad to see you back with us mate.

Hiya K,
yup, good to see you back again. Sometimes our tube dimples on tight bends, sometimes not. I guess it just depends on the paticular batch of steel. Nothing that can't be sorted with a quick drop of MIG weld & 2 minutes with a sanding disc. Nice to know people go back & refer to the older info here  :)
So what've you got planned for the trike this time round mate?

Thanks for the welcome guys, and the comments. I'm not planning on any tight bends, want things to "flow",.... "ooooh hark at him" you know what I mean anyway, I'm sure.
Will be starting to cut the other frame to bits over the next couple of weeks, cleaning up the old fixing points and starting over.
Hope to have something curvaceous rather than the square boxy thing I've got now.
Be back soon.
Regards
K

Sounds good. Obviously you'll be starting a thread here & letting us watch over your shoulder as work progresses?

Yup will do lots of piccys, if it's going right. Seems a bit of a waste starting over but that's life!!
Hopefully the new one will be more curvy and sleek. Maybe!!
Just need some time and dry weather.
