Where do I start???????????

I need new units and while I'm getting them I may as well have new appliances (if I can afford them).

But the kitchen needs a new floor as well.

And of course there will be electrical and plumbing work too.

I'd love to turn it all over to a kitchen company but I just can't afford to do it that way - but I haven't the slightest idea how much it will all cost! It will have to be done on a budget but I just don't know what to do first or how to work out what it will all cost. Easy enough finding out the price of the kitchen itself (inc fitting and accesories)but all the other stuff - and what do I start with?

Any suggestions?

As an ex kitchen and bathroom fitter,you need to start with the floor,unless you are radicaly redesigning and need to run pipes or wires under the floor,then you need to do that first.Then the floor.Then any repairs to walls from alteration in position of sockets,switches etc.Then base units,worktops,sink,plumbing,then tiling........if you are using laminate,vinyl or carpet on the floor then you can do that last,im just presuming that you're tiling the floor. hope that helps someway............................................................................If you go to B&Q or suchlike,they normaly have tradesmen that they can recomend,you'd have to ask at the trade counter,remember that a lot of the guys,especialy the older ones that work for B&Q,are ex tradesmen,it's got me through jams in the past.If a couple of guys do the job,it should take them NO longer than 4-5 days.

The floor is a solid one, it has those very old brown composition tiles but many of them have lifted and/or are broken or missing, so I think all the rest will have to come up and start from scratch.  I think this will mean we'll have to have it screede before we can lay anything!  Have no idea what kind of floor to go for, will have to consult a flooring specialist but I know there's one on our estate - I like to support my local tradesman.

Is that just for the kitchen fitting without the flooring/electrical etc?

Thats everything,me and the guy i worked with at the time never took longer than that,what i will say though,if you're getting the floor hard tiled,you need to add 1-2 days for it to set,but during that time,you can assemble the base units and cupboards,ready to be fitted.RE:screeding,the old tiles should scrape up without too much trouble.

Not yet, everything went wrong with my retirement plans and it's all tied up with that.  Guess I'll be waiting till summer now.

Thats a bummer  :( but at least in the summer the weather will be better. In theory.
